Windows 10: Unable to share Forza Horizon 4 with different account on same device

Hi


I own Forza Horizon 4 on Windows 10 bought ultimate edition outright not through game pass but would like to allow my son to play the game through his own account on the same laptop, i.e. I don't want his gameplay to affect my stats / progress.


With other games that I've bought and installed through the store in my account, an install button appears in the store on his account even though he doesn't own the game and it seems to share the bulk of the game files. With Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Motorsport 7 this doesn't seem to happen and it wants me to buy another copy; the Forza games are the only ones I've encountered that don't just work.


Is there some specific exception on the Forza games that prevents this or is there something else I can do to get it to work?


Offline permissions are turned on for this machine - it is the only device that I have attempted to install Forza Horizon 4 on it's the only device I own that gets even close to the minimum requirements and I don't own any xBox consoles.

Problem with Forza Horizon 4

Have you tried lowering your screen resolution to see if the game launches?

How much free space do you have on the drive?

Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account?

Open Start

Type: cmd

Right click CMD

Click Run as administrator

At the command prompt, type:

net user administrator/active:yes

Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Do you have the latest cumulative updates for Windows 10 1803 installed?

Open Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features

Scroll down to Forza Horizon 4

Select it

Click Advanced options

Click Reset

Restart

Check the Store for updates

If that does not work...

download the following utility and use it to remove Forza Horizon 4, extract it, launch it, scroll through the list, select Forza 4 then click Remove.
