Unable to sign into Win 10 on my desktop.

I must have done something, don't know what, to lock me out of Windows. On my PC , when I try to sign in (I usually use a PIN) I get "The password is incorrect. Try again." I try again with the same result. I switch to a real password. No luck. I am advised to "Reset password" using a password reset disk, which I don't have.

It has been a long time since I used a password for this and I may have changed it. I try every password I can think of with no luck.

Every couple of months I clone my main drive for protection. I plug in the cloned SSD and open Win10 (using a PIN) with no trouble. I change my MS password. The new password works on the clone and on this laptop I'm using now. But the new password does not work when I try again to open Win10 on my master SSD.

I could backward clone from my backup SSD to the master but I'd lose a couple of months' data.

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

    • Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
    • Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
    • Click on Users, select your User name
    • Go to desktop folder
Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.
