Windows 10: Unable to start bitlocker

Background

Due to the deleting bug, I had to reinstall Windows 10 on my computer. I had it before with Bitlocker but now I cannot enable it at all.

After reinstallation, I installed Linux in a separate drive and dual boot works fine (it was also working fine before reinstallation including bitlocker).


My main issue right now is that I am unable to start at all the bitlocker.

Before enaling Bitlocker, the disk partitions were as follow:

I any case, bdehdcfg reports that everyting is fine:

When I try to enable to bitlocker via GUI or via the command line

manage-bde -on c: -TPMAndPin


I get the info that the computer needs to be restarted. After restart, it asks me for the PIN and load Windows all the way but after login, I get the error that the drive is not set for auto-unlock and that c: was not encrypted...


In event viewer I have the following:

BitLocker-API - Management

Information - BitLocker encryption will occur for volume C: when the computer is restarted.

After restart

Information - BitLocker cannot use Secure Boot for integrity because the required UEFI variable 'PK' is not present


BitLocker-DrivePreparationTool - Admin

A problem occurred while running the BitLocker Drive Preparation Tool.
Error Code: 0xC0A00002
Error Text: This computer's hard drive is properly configured for BitLocker. It is not necessary to run BitLocker Setup.


Any ideas? I expect that two recovery partitions might be the issue but I would rather avoid having to reinstall again all of the OS ...

Need to turn off Bitlocker to install Windows 10

Hi,

We suggest doing the following steps again to resolve the issue. To complete the procedure, make sure that you have the following information:

• You must be able to provide administrative credentials.
• The drive must be BitLocker-protected.

To suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption on an operating system drive, please follow the steps below:

• Click Start, click Control Panel, click
  System and Security, and then click BitLocker Drive Encryption.
• Click Suspend Protection for the operating system drive.
• A message is displayed, informing you that your data will not be protected while BitLocker is suspended and asking if you want to suspend BitLocker Drive Encryption.
  
• Click Yes to continue and suspend BitLocker on the drive.

why doesn't my bitlocker make me type a password?

Please follow these steps and check if that helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to start the BitLocker Device Encryption service.

Follow the below steps:

1. Press Windows key + R from the Keyboard.

2. Type services.msc and hit Enter.

3. Search for BitLocker Device Encryption service.

4. Double click on BitLocker Device Encryption service and click on Start button.

5. Click on the dropdown list and set the Startup type to Automatic.

If the issue persists then change the password and change the settings on how drive is unlocked at startup.
