Dear Support,I started a new computer and cannot open Windows Security AppI get an error message "We can´t open this "windowsdefender" link. Unable to Start or Configure Windows Security Service on Windows 11

1. Please download FixList.txt.
   
2. Make sure FRST64.exe and FixList.txt are in the same folder.
   
3. Launch FRST64.exe and click "Fix".
   
4. Upload the output log file (FixLog.txt) to your OneDrive.
   

After restarting Windows, download Microsoft.SecHealthUI_8wekyb3d8bbwe.appx from this link and install it. The Windows Security version currently installed on your computer is not the right version for this OS build. See if that resolves the Windows Security app.

 

Unable to Start or Configure Windows Security Service on Windows 11

Hello,

I've been having a few issues on my Windows 11 PC (Windows 11 Pro, version 10.0.22621 build 22621).

After installing unrelated software (did not look sketchy but I'm not sure at this point) alert windows began popping up from time to time indicating an application could not be started (did not write it down and they have yet to appear again, will update with more information).

More importantly, I cannot access Windows security settings anymore. The application just hangs with a black window, and after a while it complains that Windows Security Service could not be started.

In fact, when inspecting services it appears to be disabled, but I cannot modify it (restart it or set to "automatic") because the options are greyed out, even if I run the settings app as administrator. I would upload screenshots of this but the process fails (?).

Even when running powershell as administrator and trying to manually change the settings I am met with an "access denied" error:

What I have tried so far, to no avail:

- Enabling the RPC service

- Running a full scan of the PC with Microsoft Security Scanner

- Falling back to the last recovery point

- "Reset this PC" option

- Everything listed here https://www.makeuseof.com/windows-defender-grayed-out-fix/

What else can I do?

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
