  1. Unable to start Peer Networking Identity Manager service. Error 5

    The entire message is:

Windows could not start the Peer Networking Identity Manager service on Local Computer.

    Error 5: Access is denied

I tried deleting the folder PeerNetworking at the suggestion on Windows 7 Fourms.

    C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

It was supposed to rebuild it when you either reboot the computer or try to start homegroup but it does not.

    Any suggestions?

    :)

More problems after complete reset of my PC

The Peer Networking Group service may be needed to run so that HomeGroup will function proper. Since the service is not running, the can be the reason why you're unable to join your PC to the HomeGroup. Upon checking the Peer Networking Group service, it
is dependent to Peer Name Resolution Protocol and Peer Networking Identity Manager services. These services must be running and set to
Automatic so that you can enable Peer Networking Group. Kindly look for
Peer Name Resolution Protocol and Peer Networking Identity Manager services, start these services, and set them to
Automatic. After starting the services, check if you will be able to enable Peer Networking Group.

Kindly update us if you're able to start the services needed by the HomeGroup.

Unable to start Peer Networking Identity Manager service. Error 5

Don't delete the folder. Try deleting the files in the folder. Accessing the network will initially say that you don't have permission. You must be logged on as an administrator and tell it to continue at that notice to gain permission.

  5. Actually that is what I did, delete the files in the folder. I am logged on as an administrator. I get that message when I am trying to start Peer Networking Identity Manager in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\Services.
