Windows 10: Unable to turn off Encryption in Mail app

I'm trying to help someone who is unable to send out any emails from her O365 account on a Windows 10 tablet using the Mail app as it says the encryption certificate is missing, invalid, or has expired.


I had her look in the account settings in the app and Encryption is enabled. I had her turn it off and it won't stay off. I tried this same thing with my O365 work account and had no problem turning it off. In fact it was off to begin with and I could turn it on and off at will.


Why would she not be able to disable encryption with her O365 account?

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Mail app will not open on 10041.

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
Go figure!

To resolve the error message 0x85002012, we suggest turning off "Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection". To do so, follow the steps below:

• Go to Settings of Mail.
• Click Accounts.
• Select your e-mail account.
• Disable Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection.
