Windows 10: Unable to type in search boxes after 2/8/21 Windows updates

On the 7th, I was able to type in search boxes as usual, got on my desktop PC on the 8th I no longer able to do this but some reason, I'm able to type only in Chrome browser search box, this is the same on my laptop with Windows 10 using the mouse pad. Right now I'm using Microsoft Edge browser where everything is fine.


There were 3 updates installed on the 8th, 2 security updates and 1 system update. I uninstalled this system update, restarted the PC, no change. I left the security updates alone.


I see under Settings/Program and Features, Chrome was installed on the 2/8/21, curious if the new Chrome program install is the cause. Chrome is my default browser for over a year now.

HyperSLI (Enabling SLI on non-sli motherboards)

To turn off windows updates in windows 7 follow these steps:

Click the start button, in the search box type in 'windows updates', click on 'windows update'
in the search results list, in the left side of the windows update window click 'change settings'
then in the option bar select 'Never check for updates'.

 

Cortana search box - type request

Since I got a Win 10 update a few days ago, Cortana has been hard to deal with :>). She will take requests verbally but if it try to type something into her search box, as soon as I enter a letter, a white box appears as though some suggestions will be
listed (as it did before the update) and then all of a sudden it disappears and I am back to the original Cortana window. Any ideas? I did set up other admin user and Cortana will allow that user to type into the box and she will immediately start a list
of suggestions. Also I tried "method 1 and 2 that required changes to the registry.

 

Unable to type in the search box on the taskbar.

After the latest updates I am unable to type in the search box on the taskbar. I have tried all the solutions on the internet. Powershell commands, the ctfmon fix, restarting windows explorer, all of it. No matter what I try, the search box won't respond.

The latest updates installed are:

Anyone have any new solution ideas?
