Unable to unlock Bitlocker; recovery key on the Microsoft school account is incorrect. I have attempted to unlock on BIOS & cmd with unlock commands, but I do not have a PW. I have also attempted all available recovery advance settings as all options failed.

We understand that you are having issues with your Bitlocker key. Let’s us check on this together and sort this out. Rest assured, we will do anything in our capability to assist you with your concern.

As per your description, you are unable to locate your Bitlocker from your Microsoft account or from you Manufacturer. However, in your isolated case, we’d like to know more about it in details so that we can provide a more accurate resolution for you. To start, please provide us information on the following questions:

• Device Version and Edition :
  
• Was this device provided by your school or purchased from your school?
  
• Are you using a Work/School/Education account?
  
• Or is this a retail device?
  

To locate you Bitlocker

If you are using a Work/School/Education account

• Visit you AAD Profile.
  
• Click on Get BitLocker keys next to the device you need to unlock and get your key.
  

For Consumer Email (Microsoft Account)

• Please follow this link for instructions on how to find your Bitlocker Key.
  
• If you are having an issue locating the correct account, try to check all the emails that has been used on the computer. Including those other than you own.

Incorrect Bitlocker recovery key in my Microsoft account

Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Usually the Bitlocker recovery key in a device is uploaded to a Microsoft account, but there may be more than one device under one account. The recovery key can be unlocked only when the device name, key ID, and drive match correctly.

Therefore, if you have confirmed the correct device name under your account, please also confirm whether the key ID and corresponding drive are correct. Only when they are matched, the recovery key is correct. If any of these items are incorrect, the recovery key will not correspond to your device.

Please carefully recall whether you have multiple Microsoft accounts. If there are other Microsoft accounts available, please log in one by one and make sure that there is a full matching recovery key under the accounts.

If you don't have another Microsoft account, or the other keys still don't match, I hate to give you bad news, but this question is out of reach of the response support community. The best place to get help with Bitlocker Recovery key is Microsoft Learn, which aims to support more advanced users like you.

Please follow the suggestions below and check if you are able to boot to your desktop.

• Places to look for your BitLocker key:
  • On a printout you saved. Look in places you keep important papers.
    
  • Saved on a USB flash drive. Plug the USB flash drive into your locked PC and follow the instructions. If you saved the key as a text file on the flash drive, use a different computer to read the text file.
  • In your Microsoft account. To get your recovery key, go to
    BitLocker Recovery Keys.

• Or ask someone for help:
  • Ask someone with administrator privileges on the same PC to unlock it with their key.
  • If your PC is connected to a domain (usually a work or school computer), ask a system administrator for your recovery key
