Windows 10: Unable to update or check for updates, error 0x80070057?

I normally let Windows do its own updates but today when I checked Windows Update I got this error:

When I ran the troubleshooter it stated: "Service Registration is Missing or Corrupt":

On top of that Windows Security is blank:

And momentarily I wasn't able to enter services.msc because I was blocked "For my own protection:

About ten minutes later, I was able to enter services.msc only to find out that Windows Update is missing:

My PC is barely 2 months old and I use it for watching movies and streaming. I don't know how this happened.

What can be done to fix it and how severe is the issue? I noticed nothing wrong with my PC as it runs fine.

Specs:

i3-9100 UHD 630 iGPU Gigabyte H310M S2H 2.0 Kingston 3200MHZ 12GB Ram [1x8 + 1x4]

I would suggest you to try the steps provided in the thread mentioned below. Try to refer the steps provide by Alex Zhao in the thread mentioned below.

Got it updated. On the MS Forum it seems to have been an issue for lots of users. One work around suggested was to disconnect (immediately) any wifi/ethernet connection when update sticks at 2%. Count to 30 or 40 and re-connect.

Strangely this worked and update completed.
