    Last year I bought my son his first laptop for him to create stories and complete school work. It came with 30gb disk space and a free year of Office 365. He has not downloaded anything new and it seems that Office 365 takes up 25gb, leaving just 5gb. You need a minimum of 8gb to apply Windows Updates or an external device. I bought a 64gb usb stick and have tried constantly to incorporate this. However, I am unable to clean the disk down further to raise the 8gb and the option to select external drive is forever greyed out. I found an old thread with instructions to Fix Issues on the Windows Update page, but that is not there.


    Please help as I feel I have been sold a laptop which cannot be updated due to the Office program provided being too large. I have wasted hours going around in circles.

    LOW DISK SPACE

    Hello,

    I am unable to update windows 10 due to low disk space.

    The Error is : We could not update the system reserved partition.

    The Data (YUnable to upgrade from Windows 10 v 1803 to 1909 due to low disk space. Unable to select... :) has a space of 100MB and only 1.39MB is free.

    Please advice .

    Low Disk (FUnable to upgrade from Windows 10 v 1803 to 1909 due to low disk space. Unable to select... :) Space. My PC is running Windows 10 Home; V. 1803; 64 bit operating system



    I am constantly receiving this message:



    “Low Disk Space

    You are running out of Disk space on Local Disk (FUnable to upgrade from Windows 10 v 1803 to 1909 due to low disk space. Unable to select... :).

    Click here to see if you can free any spaces on this Disk.”



    I open “Disk Management” to find that Volume (FUnable to upgrade from Windows 10 v 1803 to 1909 due to low disk space. Unable to select... :) has:

    a Capacity of 450MB

    Free Space of 47MB

    % Free of 10%



    I open “Disk Clean-up/Drive Selection/Drive (FUnable to upgrade from Windows 10 v 1803 to 1909 due to low disk space. Unable to select... :) and press “OK”

    Display shown is “Are you sure you want to permanently delete these files?”

    I select “Delete Files” and the system runs briefly but no file changes occur.



    Consequently, I am getting frustrated by receiving these “Low Disk Space” messages several times a day. How can I clear this up?
