Windows 10: Unable to use Window's 'Mobile Hotspot' to update other devices

Hello, I live in an apartment where I do have Ethernet, but no WiFi. The easy solution to this was to hook my tower up to ethernet and use the native 'Mobile Hotspot' in Windows to provide wifi throughout the apartment. However, my tablet also running Windows refuses to update over this connection, citing being unable to download large cumulative updates over "metered connections." Is there any way to get around this, since the hotspot created doesn't rely at all on cellular data, but instead on Ethernet? Thanks.

We appreciate that you have tried the suggested steps above. Have you tried to connect other devices to the mobile hotspot on your PC?

Since the issue is still the same, we suggest that you uninstall/reinstall the network adapter driver and check if this will resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device manager.
  
• 
  Locate for Network adaptor and click on it expand it.
  
• 
  Right click on the device and click on
  uninstall.
  
• 
  Once you are done uninstalling the driver, restart the computer. It will automatically install the generic network adapter driver.
  

We can also update the network adapter driver. Skip step 3 from the above steps and right click on the device and click on update.

Unable to turn on Mobile Hotspot


Hi.
I'm on a metered connection using my USB Data Card, but been unable to to turn on the Mobile Hotspot to share my connection with other devices (see screenshot below).
Any help would be very much appreciated.
