Windows 10: Uncontrolled keyboard-like input not coming from my keyboard

I just had a problem occur for the second time in a few days. Some keyboard-like input was going into my computer, making it very difficult to exert much control. The input seems to have consisted of two tabs, two digits, a period, two digits, another tab and then "1S" or "2S", followed by a return. The digits seemed to be approximately 20 and the input sequence seemed to happen about once per second. I managed to save some of this sequence in Notepad. Does anyone recognise what might have been happening? Unplugging my keyboard did not stop the problem and the problem continued when I restarted my PC. I'm not actually sure how I managed to stop it - I was trying and failing to enter Safe mode when I noticed the problem seemed to have stopped. I've done an offline virus scan using Windows' built-in scanner and it didn't find anything.

Is there something I can do to prepare for next time it happens that will help diagnose the problem? Programs become pretty unusable when fed this rubbish input.

Language keyboard input doesn't equal output

Hi,

Language input may vary depending on the Input method set on your keyboard settings. To sort your concern, we suggest that you check if the desired input is set correctly by following these steps:

• Type in Language and keyboard options on the search box.
• Select the desired language that you're trying to set up.
• Once you've selected the language, select Options.
• Under Keyboards, select Microsoft IME and click
  Options.
• Scroll down and select Open advanced settings.
• A window will pop up. Under General tab, click the drop-down arrow for
  Input method and select the desired input.
• Click OK.

  Choose the language that you want to add, click Options next to the language name, and then click
  Add an input method.

Hi, I think you may be able to resolve this by going to the control panel here:




and setting your desired input method as 'override' rather than 'Use Language list'
