Understanding why USB-C DP-1.4 alt mode does not work

Hi dear community I'm struggling for a while already connecting my laptop to external monitor. Laptop Thinkbook 14-IIL, Monitor DELL U4021QW. I already tried Lenovo forum, but unfortunately I was not able to find solution for a problem.Explanation:I have laptop with usb-c port with support of DP 1.4 alt mode and power delivery. My monitor also supports DP 1.4 and delivers 90W of power and also there is USB switch used to connect mouse / keyboard. My expectation that I should be able to charge, send video via single cable. It turned out that this is very unstable thing.First of all sometime

    :)

Looking for some way to determine if a USB-C port supports Alt Modes

Well, there should be some symbols:
How do you check which type of USB-C port my laptop has? - Coolblue - anything for a smile

There appear to be professional conformance checkers of course...

  3. Is there a real need for USB Type C

Oh so there is a need for usb type c. Now I wish my laptop had usb type c. I don't understand why asus didn't add usb type c for this laptop I mean it's a 2015 model, usb type c existed in 2015 so what gives?

Looking for some way to determine if a USB-C port supports Alt Modes

Had a discussion with a friend about USB-C Alt Modes. That got me wondering - does anyone know of a way within Windows or via a utility to determine if any USB-C ports on a system support Alt modes, and if so, which modes the particular port supports?

As an example, in order to support DisplayPort video over USB-C, the port in question must support the DisplayPort Alternate USB-C mode.

Up until now I've simply relied upon the manufacturers specs, but surely there must be some way to determine this via software.
