  1. "Undoing changes made to your computer" prevents update from 21H2 to 22H2

Does Windows record the reason for the "Undoing changes made to your computer" error? My Lenovo M90N ThinkCentre running Windows 11 Pro 21H2 does not update to 22H2. I've done all the usual stuff: update drivers, sfc /scannow, checking device manager, dism, disconnecting peripherals, running troubleshooter, etc. The same behavior occurs whether Windows Update tries the update, which it does every month or two, or whether I manually use Installation Assistant. The computer was delivered with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and later upgraded through Windows Update to Windows 11 Pro. But it has never

  2. Cannot update Windows 11 to build 22h2

Need more help than support web site offers. I would like to update a Windows Pro 21h2 to 22h2.

I've tried every suggestion at Troubleshoot problems updating Windows - Microsoft Support short of "Perfrom a clean installation of Windows 11." That list is comprehensive and includes everything I would have thought of on my own and then some. None of the troubleshooting suggestions solved the problem. The system in question is a Lenovo ThinkCentre M90n desktop running Windows 11 Pro Version 21H2.

In addition to all the steps at the above link, I've also tried installing by using Windows 11 Installation Assistant. Installation Assistant downloads and goes through the long installation process. But then very shortly after the reboot starts, it says, "Undoing changes" and boots back into the old build.

Window Update Undoing changes made to your computer issue

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, pleas reply with the details requested below:

    • Do you receive any error message after Windows update?
    • May I know after which update do you see this message?
    • When you say, “this message appear about half and hour" does the computer boot to the desktop?
    • What is the make and model of the computer?

If the computer doesn’t boot to the Desktop, I would suggest you to refer the suggestions provided by DaveM121 replied on April 7, 2019 in the thread

'Undoing changes made to your computer' in Windows 10
    .

If you are able to boot the computer to the Desktop, I would suggest you to run the

    Windows Update Troubleshooter
    and see if that helps.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to reset Windows Update components. Kindly refer the article by Sumit on

How to:Reset Windows update components in Windows
    .

You may also want to refer the steps mentioned in the article

Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost. Also, the last step in the article
talks about Clean installation, please do not perform a clean installation of Windows.

Let us know the results, we will be glad to help you.

"Undoing changes made to your computer" prevents update from 21H2 to 22H2

    Windows 11 22H2 update failed - error 0x8007000d

    This is exactly my case.

I tried all methods listed here: How to Fix 'Undoing Changes Made to Your Computer' Error in Windows 11, including BIOS update.

No matter what, Win11 22H2 will roll back to 21H2 with the "Undoing changes made to your computer" message.

However, Windows Update strangely says that 22H2 is installed, but it's not.

The Windows Update Troubleshooter always ends up displaying the same messge:

Problem with BITS service : The requested service has already been started. System.Management.Automation.RemoteException

No matter what, this message won't go away and 22H2 won't install.

I haven't tried a fresh Windows installation because that's simply not an acceptable solution.

    Any ideas?
