  1. Undoing changes to your computer loop on Windows 10

Some time ago my DELL PC started having some minor problems. The PC was still usable, but the problems gradually piled up. At first, I couldn't open command line. It would flash on the screen and close immediately. Eventually I could no longer open notifications or check nearby Wi-Fis. I tried checking Updates section of Settings, but that kept giving me an error and suggesting trying to open Settings later. I tried opening Windows Defender, but got just a blank window, apart from the "Security at a glance" title. Third party anti-malware software says that my PC is not infected, though.

I searched for answers on the internet and managed to open command line through winRE to run System File Checker. But that didn't work, as I ended up in an endless cycle of trying to fix an error leading to another error. I verified that the problems persist in safe mode as well.

I am now in a situation where I need to use the command line for studies, so I tried doing a reset of the installation. However, the reset option in Settings ran into an error. I tried downloading a tool for this purpose, error again. Then I realised that it's been months since Windows last tried to update, so I tried downloading Windows Update Assistant, which downloaded an update and then tried to install it. Made it almost all the way, but then said that installation failed. Last time I checked, I had about 600 GB of free memory, lack of it is not an issue.

I have now shut down my PC and am trying to boot it back up, but it's stuck in an endless loop of

    -Windows logo appears

    -"Attempting to recover installation"

    -"Undoing changes to your computer"

    -Rinse and repeat

I can't seem to enter winRE either.

Any ideas for how to fix this mess?

    :)
