Windows 10: Unexpected failure of MS word 2019 and to recover a saved file that now seems missing

Hi,

I have been working on an MS word document for last one month, and I have been saving the document every now and then to avoid any data loss. However, the word document suddenly got closed automatically, and now I see no evidence of my document itself. I have even checked the recycle bin, unsaved file recover option and every possible option and I fail completely to find the document I have been working on. Though the search option did show the document when searched by its name, the file appears as a shortcut file with a size of 614 bytes and when clicked, it opens a blank document.

I have tried windows+r-> checked unsaved files, but it was empty. The same response was received zero unsaved files when tried the same through the MS Word application.

I am totally frustrated as a customer. Please please please help me to recover my file. It is very important.

We would suggest you follow the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

1. Open word application and click the File tab.
   
2. Click on Info > Manage Document >
   Recover Unsaved Documents.
   
3. A list of unsaved files are shown.
   
4. Look for the file try opening and saving it.

Word 2019; Status Bar missing

Is the Status Bar completely missing or is it there but nothing is showing on it?

If it still there you can check its configuration by:

• Right-click on Status Bar
• Customize Status Bar dialog is shown

My copy of Word 2019 has the following Status Bar options selected by default:

• Page Number
• Word Count
• Spelling and Grammar Check
• Language
• Label
• Signatures
• Macro Recording
• Upload Status
• Document Updates Available
• View Shortcuts Available
• Zoom Slider

 

MS WORD

I have proceeded with your suggestion of selecting the word document saved in a path and tried to select it for right clicking but miserably failed. It has not allowed me to select the word document first and windows explorer hanged circling for sometime
and came out of explorer itself. This issue may be something different I feel. Other MS docs like excel, notepad etc are opening correctly when I double click as usual and this word document only giving problem.

Please suggest some other workable solution.
