  2. Win 10 1709 -an unexpected i/o error has occured file:\Boot\BCD Error code: 0xc00000e9

    Hi Sandy,

The error message "File \Boot\BCD, Error code: 0xc00000e9, An unexpected I/O error has occurred"
occurs when removable storage device is removed while it’s in use or it is failing. We'd like to ask few questions so we can isolate your concern properly.Kindly answer the following:

    • How did you perform clean install? Did you us a USB drive as your media creation tool?
    • Are you seeing the error message in the recovery mode or once the boot completed?
    • did you make any hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?

Error 0xc00000e9 , An unexpected I/O error has occurred, after cold boot

I have an HP DC 5700 which I upgraded from Win 7 Home Premium to Windows 10.

When cold booting the system I get the error:

An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

    File:\windows\system32\winload.exe

    Error code: 0x00000e9

If I power it off then back on, it works fine until I reboot it, then the error comes back.

I am able to boot into Save Mode with no issues.

When I boot into Cold Boot, it get the error again.

I have removed all the devices except the main hard drive - no help.

I have removed and re-seated the memory and the connections of the hard drive.

I checked the Device Manager and it states all the drivers are up to date.

I performed the Startup Repair without success.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks

    Steve
