Windows 10: Unexpected I/O error - Error code: 0xc00000e9

So I was using my computer normally and all of a sudden it started to freeze, I could not move my mouse around, I couldn't open/close applications, a strange sound I believe coming from my hard drive kept repeating and I couldn't do anything. I restarted my PC a couple of times and it came up with that blue screen saying:

"There was a problem with a device connected to your PC


An unexpected I/O error has occured


File:\Boot\BCD

Error code : 0xc00000e9


This problem can happen when a removeable storage device is removed while it's in use or is failing. Properly connecting any removeable storage and restarting your PC may fix this problem."


I do not have any removable storage devices and whenever I start my PC again my hard drive makes that same weird sound once followed by the blue screen message. I tried many things to try and fix the problem but nothing has worked so far, does this mean my hard drive is faulty/failing, what can I do about this?

error 0xc00000e9 unexpected i/o error windows 10... when I face roblem I can't solve it .. but now can't install Windows 8.1 when I click any key to start boot it ...shows the same thing I can not install it and it still restarted... if there any solution please inform me....

occurs when removable storage device is removed while it’s in use or it is failing. We'd like to ask few questions so we can isolate your concern properly.Kindly answer the following:

• How did you perform clean install? Did you us a USB drive as your media creation tool?
• Are you seeing the error message in the recovery mode or once the boot completed?
• did you make any hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?

Hi community i need help to removing the blue screen with the error code: 0xc00000e9 from my hp notebook. im using windows 10 and everytime i restart my notebook i keep getting the same error code and message:

An expected I/O error has occurred.

Error code: 0xc00000e9
