    Unexpectedly shuts down and shows CMOS 'something' error.


    I replaced my laptop battery this week and lately the pc HP 255 G7 NOTEBOOK PC, internal battery just powers off whilst in use. And to power it on it needs to be plugged in. It then shows an error on startup, CMOS failure or something then restarts. After it's on I can unplug the charger and continue to use it. The battery lasts through. Sorry if I could've googled the answer, just that this is stressing me and needed someone to fully explain. I just hope it doesn't need to be opened and all .Thanks <

    OK, first complete your system specs, as it will help us diagnose your problem. Second, can you be a bit more descriptive about the "shut off"? Does it go through the windows shut down procedure, or does the power just shut off completely?

    CMOS Error...

    My Asus Maximus SE refuses to Post now....

    It goes through the usual checks and stops showing CMOS Error on LCD Poster...

    I've tried resetting BIOS, removing battery overnight....

    Is there anything else I can try or is this now a dead Asus?
