    Unexplained random DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION & KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED bluescreens

For the past month, I've been having a mix of blue screen conditions occurring every 3 or so days. DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION, Bug Check Code: 0xe6, Parameter 1: 00000000`00000026 and/or KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED Bug Check Code: 0x1e, Parameter 1: ffffffff`c00000505. They appear to occur at random times. Today I turned on driver verifier after suffering two DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATIONS earlier I didn't actually have verifier enabled yet for those two, though but I got it to happen again. Could use the help of an analyst to look at these files and let me know what you think.I have

    Unexplained random DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION bluescreens

For the past month, I've been having the same blue screen condition occurring every 3 or so days. DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION, Bug Check Code: 0xe6, Parameter 1: 00000000`00000026

The conditions causing the blue screen vary... for instance, I can regularly get it by clicking on pics in Discord which would launch a tab in Chrome. Other times, I might be watching a Twitch stream in Chrome. Or I might simply be doing nothing on my computer and it would just bluescreen & reboot.

I was thinking that somehow the driver verifier was turned on, but I never did that and all attempts at disabling it following instructions I found online have failed (it seems like it's not enabled in the first place). DELL appears to have Kernel DMA protection enabled (in the BIOS?) and I would like to disable it, just to test this but can't figure out how to do it. Microsoft put out an article last February saying if you have kernel DMA Protection enabled in your BIOS, you could get the DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION error: Stop code DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION (0xE6) - Windows Server I don't see a setting like that in my BIOS. Ultimately, though, I'd really like to get to the bottom of the cause of the actual error. I have not added or removed any devices from my system in many months nor have I updated any drivers beyond what DELL does and Windows update (with the exception of NVIDIA). I don't want to point fingers but these bluescreens started right after the last BIOS update DELL pushed in early December.

H i Dyari. I did as you suggested. I had installed an app called Intel Unison back in November (allows you to send text messages from your PC to your iPhone, access photos, etc.). This was before the bluescreens had started. I never made a connection between that app and the crashing since it almost always seem to occur when Chrome was involved. Anyways, I shutoff/disabled the app and turned off my Bluetooth adapter. So far, it's been 9 hours and things seem better, but I won't know for sure for a few days. I'll check back here and keep you posted. Thanks a lot for your suggestions.

    Hi Dyari,

Thanks for the fast response. I did as you requested, uninstalled the Bluetooth driver (dated 7/11/23) and on reboot, the system installed one dated 6/24/22). But, in the hours since that time, Windows did an update and the 7/11/23 version of the driver (22.250.0.2) was reinstalled. I had Chrome already running with a Twitch tab in the background. Brought it forward, scrolled down the page a bit and encountered another blue screen (DRIVER_VERIFIER_DMA_VIOLATION (0xe6)).

I added that dump file to the same folder. Would you be able to take a look again to see if it's the same issue (bluetooth driver) that's causing it?

    C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\010524-8312-01.dmp

    Thanks,

    Frank
