I turned my laptop to connect to Wi-Fi, and saw this weird symbol with the name "test". Not really a tech guy, and didn't do anything or download anything onto my laptop recently. I tried looking online to identify the icon, but had no luck. Is my laptop being hacked or anything?

  2. Laptop won't show list of available networks

We suggest checking the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your laptop.

    Please follow these steps:

    • Click the Windows logo.
    • Go to Settings (gear icon).
    • Select Network and Internet.
    • Then Wi-Fi.
    • Make sure the Wi-Fi radio button is On.
    • Select Show available networks, then you'll be able to see the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

Update us with the outcome so we provide further assistance.

The ethernet icon is showing in my tray instead of the wifi symbol

As above but everything else seems okay. I'm connected to wifi and that is working okay and it says that I am not connected to Ethernet in the settings. However the Ethernet symbol is now showing in my icon tray instead of the previous wifi symbol. Does
anyone know why this might be. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything.

Wirelss connection symbol in system tray shows intermittent connection while hard drive is busy

Thank you for your reply , I tried your suggested steps by changing the router and also trying Microsoft edge browser instead but the issue is still the same, I repeat again that the asterik and yellow triangle symbols appearance next to the wireless
icon in the system tray coincides with hard drive being busy running but the router connectivity to the internet status light is showing normal connection , and it is doubtful that the wireless signal between the router and the PC is actually being interrupted,as
they are only a few feet apart. It is almost like while the operating system is busy doing something else ( rearranging the hard drive for example) it brings up the "No wireless connectivity" status and stops browsing for a while.

    Regards
