Windows 10: Unformatable / Windows OS -> external SSD drive

Hello everyone,I have a rather annoying problem: I recently installed Windows on an old computer to see how well it works as a media PC. Now I wanted to turn this SSD back into an external data drive, but I can't manage to format the hard drive.Already tried:- Right click format -> Fails.- Diskpart with clean and override each partition -> Says successful, after plug in/plug out everything stays the same- AOEMI Tool to Wipe everything -> Says successful, same then above.- try to delete partitions in windows Media Stick installation -> nothing happensI can still go to the SSD and br

Is there can a external ssd drive be used as the main OS drive?

We don't recommend using an external SSD as the main OS drive. You can use an external SSD as the main OS drive, but you need to configure the BIOS of your computer for it to boot the OS from the external SSD. We suggest contacting your computer manufacturer
for assistance on configuring the BIOS of your computer.

External Samsung SSD NTFS drive keep disconnecting from Windows 10 but not Mac OS

It's possible that the issue is related to the USB drivers on your Windows 10 laptop. Try updating the USB drivers to see if that resolves the issue. You can also try plugging the drive into a different Windows 10 computer to see if it's recognized.

As for diagnosing the drive on a Mac, you can use the built-in Disk Utility tool to check the drive for errors. Open Disk Utility and select the drive from the list on the left-hand side. Click on the First Aid button to check and repair any errors on the drive.

Also, I faced a similar issue with my external SSD, my external SSD worked with Mac os, Ipad os and Android devices, but Windows PCs did not recognize and freeze. I fixed this issue by formatting the external SSD by connecting to the Smart TV.

If none of these steps resolves the issue, it's possible that the drive may be defective and may need to be replaced under warranty.

OS on new SSD, keep existing data on HDD and use as external drive

I want to use a new SSD to run my OS on my PC. I have a lot of data on my HDD and dont want it on the SSD but do want to keep it.

I have read that you shouldn't use an external drive that has Windows installed so how would i go about doing what I need?

I.e. get Windows onto the SSD, replace HDD with SSD, use HDD as external drive, and keep data from HDD on HDD.
