Windows 10: Unfortunately

The KB5021233 update issue in which if you installed it started on December 20th of this year, and is still ongoing. If this is taking longer than the Win32 hive issue, then this must be serious.

Unfortunately, that's how Disk Clean ends.

If you want to check - run it again to see if there's is anything to clean (look at the size on items in the list - small size means only a bit has accumulated since the last run - large means something wasn't cleaned)
Disk Clean / extended goes deep, that's why I suggested that you run it first.

I'd say just move on to the next step: cCleaner, since you're in the cleaning phase.

Windows 10 Sleep / Hybernate

Thank you Robert. I found a suggested fix that had me change the registry. I followed the steps listed and that corrected the problem. I can now live with the computer. Unfortunately, I do not recall all the steps or the value I changed.

Wait, but have you done the whole step-by-step guide described in the OP? DDL/DTS isn't supported natively by Windows 8/8.1 either, unless if you do the steps listed there.
