Does that mean I have no way of uninstalling the "Groove Music", "Film & TV", "Photos", "Mail and Calendar", "Maps", Weather", "Alarms & Clock", "Voice Recorder", "People" and "Camera" apps?

    Hello Ojustaboo,

Yes, you can install them if you like if they are not currently in use.

However, most of those are the default apps in Windows 10. Unless you have another app set as the default instead, it could cause issues to uninstall them.

I used option 2 using powershell.exe and it did uninstall people, zune video and zune music
which also got rid of the music player which wasn't really good.
had to redo my play list for windows media player. it's the only playing
music now. thanks for the help. jon l

I used the second option as well, and specifically the remove-appxpackage PackageFullName command, because the other one was not working, and these are the only pre-installed Apps I have left on my system:

Besides the Intel Security Assist, of course, which is part of the IME driver (I think).

PS: I am not sure what the App Connector does. Anybody know?

Type the following command to remove all Modern apps from the system account:
Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -online This means that all newly created user accounts will come without built-in Modern apps. This also means that new user accounts will be created faster.
Type the following command to remove all Modern apps from your current user accountstrong>:
    Get-AppXPackage | Remove-AppxPackage

The above will remove almost all of the apps including the Store which is why I reversed it on my system.

Does anyone know if the removal of the Photo App cripples or causes the malfunction of the Windows Photo viewer?

    Hello Joanne,

I haven't tested, but I wouldn't recommend to uninstall default system apps to avoid any possible unknown issues.

    Hi *Smile

Well, I've searched it a bit and Windows Photo Viewer still exists in my system (even though I've removed the Photos App). The thing is that it is set to open .TIFF and .TIF image formats only. I did open a .tiff image with it!

In the "Set default programs" menu the Photo Viewer appears. I don't know how to set it to also open .png and .jpg files though. I cannot do it from the File Associations menu because I cannot find the Photo Viewer's .exe

    Update to my message above:

I've checked my untouched Win 10 Pro installation, on my other SSD, and it seems that all the image file types supported in Windows 10 are associated with the Photos App. Only the .TIFF and .TIF file types are associated and open with the Windows Photo Viewer.

Too bad because I liked that simple utility. I do not like the Photos App. So, I'm sticking to the Adobe Bridge for previewing and managing my images, from simple screenshots to RAW files.

    Thank you.

    Uninstall Apps in Windows 10

This link fixed it for me.

I followed the 2nd bit: How to get Windows Photo Viewer working in WIndows 10 without Winaero Tweaker.

    http://winaero.com/blog/how-get-wind...indows-10-rtm/

    You start regedit, go to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Photo Viewer\Capabilities\FileAssociations

then add the following strings (which should be identical to the existing .tiff and .tif ones.

Code: .bmp PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .dib PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .gif PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .jfif PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .jpe PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .jpeg PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .jpg PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .jxr PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff .png PhotoViewer.FileAssoc.Tiff[/quote] Then you left click start/settings/system/default apps

Then at bottom right of window you click on

    Set Defaults by app

That opens a set default Programs window and in the left hand under "Programs" , highlight

    Windows Photo Viewer

Then at the bottom right click on "Choose defaults for this program" and you can select photoviewer for all the types you put in the registry earlier.

Thank you for this tweak! I might try it at some point in time *Smile

Right now though I'll stick to the Adobe Bridge. It suits me better and I would also like to recall a few things I know on this program and on Photoshop *Smile

    A bit of an off-topic now, he-he...

It is the 6th of August today and this OS came out a few days ago. It is the first time in my life that I need to apply so much customization and tweaks to an Operating System!

    - I've clean installed it careful being to decline all the features in the Custom Settings screen. I re-enabled Smart Screen later.
    - I've applied Viper's Service guide for Windows 10.
    - I've uninstalled the majority of the default Apps and disabled OneDrive from the Group Policy.
    - I've applied two different tweaks to resolve the blurry text issue on Windows menus and components, on installers and on some programs, too.
    - And then I've also customized my Start Menu, Taskbar and other areas.

Haha... I used to like clean installations but I'm not sure I will be able to take all this for one more time!...

PS: my installation works great! *Smile

How does a standard user remove apps using Settings? It does not give a prompt to elevate to Admin and I don't see a Run As Admin option? Thanks
