Windows 10: Uninstalled Norton, lost MS Precision mouse

Hello from desperate: I uninstalled Norton, using its special removal software. Upon restarting, I had lost use of MS Precision mouse. Writing this on wife's computer. I tried to set Win 10 (v. 20H2, build 19042.985) for use of PS/2 mouse by going to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt. Instructions called for right-click on Start, but with no mouse, I tried Enter, and fortunately got to Value, which I changed from 3 to 1. It did not help ... my PS/2 mouse did not work (it had worked earlier, with an earlier version of Win 10). So, my first question is, how can I activate my PS/2 mouse? Second, would anyone know what I need to do, and how to do it with only keyboard, to get my MS Precision mouse back? Grateful for clues in these desperate times (getting PS/2 mouse to work is priority). Hans L

I will do this in the afternoon today. One question, though:

"Now, your mouse should be be showing in the list." Which list? Or did you mean "Now, your mouse should NOT be showing in the list."?

 

Norton Security not loading with Windows 10 - Why?

I would recommend you follow the below given steps and check if it fixes the issue.

I would suggest you to restart the Norton services from the services list, and set the Norton service to automatic.

Follow these steps to run Norton services:

Method 1:

Follow these steps to run Norton services

a. Press Windows key + R

b. In the run windows, type services.msc

c. It will open services windows

d. select norton services from the list of services

e. double click on it

f. At the top of the window, Make sure the service status is started and startup type is
automatic.

g.Click apply and OK.

If this does not fix the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton software and check if it helps.

If the above steps do not help , I would suggest you to contact Norton for further help.

MS Precision mouse not working in 1909

In your post, in addition to the transceiver, you note that your mouse has a pairing button. So if your mouse does not use a transceiver and if it is bluetooth, then try this...

First, go to the list of connected bluetooth devices in settings by pressing Windows Key + R, in the Run box that opens type "ms-settings:bluetooth", and press ENTER. Does this screen indicate that bluetooth is on? In the "Mouse, keyboard, & pen" section, does your mouse appear and does it say "Paired" or "Connected"?

If bluetooth is on and you see either indication (Paired or Connected) but the mouse is not working, let's remove it and add it again. If the mouse is not showing, just skip past the next paragraph and continue.

Click the name of the mouse on this screen. A "Remove" button should appear. Click it. Confirm that you wish to remove it.

Now, your mouse should be be showing in the list.

Still on the same screen, near the top, click on "Add bluetooth or other device", then select "Bluetooth". Once again place your mouse in pairing mode by pressing the button until it starts blinking.

At this point it SHOULD show up in the list. Select it to add it.

If that still is not working, report back the results of the above checks / actions.
