Windows 10: Unknown Alternate email Address

Hi,- I recently purchased a new Lenovo Thinkbook laptop- I updated Windows 10 which prompted me to reset the laptop.- Upon resetting I was taken to a screen requesting my Bit Locker recovery key, which I do not know- I logged into my Microsoft Account on another computer and selected my device followed by 'Manage recovery Keys'- I was prompted for my password, which I entered followed by another prompt requesting that I enter my alternate email address.- I don't recall ever listing an alternative address and after entering my existing email address and not receiving a code I requested change p

Here is the step to remove that old email address.

Start typing an email address into the “To” field. As soon as you see the old email address being recommended as one of the potential candidates, use the down arrow key to scroll through the list of suggestions. Once you highlight the old email address, type the delete key. In many cases, this will actually remove the entry not only from the current list of suggestions but from future suggestions as well. You may even find that as you mouse over the drop-down list the highlighted item will have an “x” to explicitly allow you to delete it.

Just do this step and your good to go.

Update alternate/recovery email address

Hi,

Can you please advice how to change my alternate/recovery email address?

I'm still unable to change my recovery email address as it still required to access my old alternate email address which I have forgotten the password.

I understand your concern with regards to your Microsoft account.

The 30 days wait time is for Microsoft to verify any security information on any Microsoft account. This goes for both the alternate email address and phone number. The 30 days is the maximum wait time but it usually takes a week if there's no problem with
the alternate email address. I actually changed mine before and it only took me a little over 1 week for the changes to appear.

If you need further assistance with your Microsoft account, I would suggest getting in touch with a Microsoft technician over the chat or phone since they would be able to check the status of your account on their end.
