Windows 10: Unknown date file name error while copying files from USB to Desktop

A search shows this question here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/unknown-date-file-name-error-while-copying-files/0b84f813-f102-43b6-8cd7-8eece56763d2 but no solution is seen. 7 years later I find myself with the exact same problem.I copied files Excel 2010 and Word 2010 to the desktop from my USB and it says it does not know the date. Two days later, with files which should by now have a date since I placed them there and how can any file not have a date it gives me the same error-like message. It does this again and again and again. This is annoying because I

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried different usb stick with the same results.

As advised, I copied the file on my desktop. When I tried to copy from my usb stick to desktop, same result: Unknown date.

When I copied the same file from desktop to Documents everything was OK.

This problem started to occur since updating to Windows 10, I tried the same usb stick on another computer with Windows 8.1 and it worked fine.

Old title: Unknown date

After I have updated to Windows 10 I have encountered a problem while copying files from my pendrive. When the document being copied already exists I get the choice which file to keep. The date of the file on my pendrive was shown as ‘Unknown
Date’, (see attached) which in fact is incorrect as the files do have a ‘date modified’. I have to go back to check to continue with copying. While if I copy a file in a folder in my pendrive, the date is shown correctly. Can anyone please help me to solve
this problem?

 

Java.nio.file - Copying files

You can't copy a folder, thats why it generates an exception (you are trying to copy a folder using a copy file function).
You probably need to list all the files inside that folder and copy one by one
