  1. Unknown Event ID 49

    Hi guys,

    I just recently installed a Windows Server 2019 on a computer equipped with a raid adapter; I use it as a private cloud for all my family members photos, documents etc.. Everything is working fine, except for an error event on Event Log System that appears with swiss precision every hour, at minute 34 second 35. Nothing bad about it until now, but I just noticed some seconds before this event is logged all the HDD wake up from their suspended state. This can obviously reduce the life of my HDDs, so I want to prevent this from happening, but I can't find any useful info about the event itself.

    Here follows the event:

    Log Name: System

    Source: arcsas

    Date: 5/9/2020 2:34:35 PM

    Event ID: 49

    Task Category: None

    Level: Error

    Keywords: Classic

    User: N/A

    Computer: Datacenter

    Description:

    The description for Event ID 49 from source arcsas cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

    If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

    The following information was included with the event:

    \Device\RaidPort0

    Fatal Error: Backup disabled

    The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

    Event Xml:

    <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">

    <System>

    <Provider Name="arcsas" />

    <EventID Qualifiers="57370">49</EventID>

    <Level>2</Level>

    <Task>0</Task>

    <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords>

    <TimeCreated SystemTime="2020-05-09T12:34:35.232004400Z" />

    <EventRecordID>21648</EventRecordID>

    <Channel>System</Channel>

    <Computer>Datacenter</Computer>

    <Security />

    </System>

    <EventData>

    <Data>\Device\RaidPort0</Data>

    <Data>Fatal Error: Backup disabled</Data>

    <Binary>0F002000020048000000000031001AE0310000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000010000002000000031001AE03100000000000000000000000000000000000000</Binary>

    </EventData>

    </Event>

    I looked for arcsas event source, and inside the registry it looks like this:

    Unknown Event ID 49 dc4f9bff-ff66-4f2f-8ddb-89ecd1924f71?upload=true.png

    Just to make sure, IoLogMsg.dll actually exists on my system, is provided by Microsoft itself and a check with SFC did not reveal any corruption, so I don't understand why the event can not be found.

    Unknown Event ID 49 47e4e981-d19b-4943-9fc6-5d5358b0e1d8?upload=true.png

    Also, right after and right before this event is noting that can help me in finding the root cause.

    I'd like to understand what this event is and resolve the issue, but what I want more it to find what is that every hour tries to access my HDDs and eventually turn it off or tune it with a lower frequency.

    Has anyone some suggestion on how to troubleshoot this?

    Thank you!

    :)

    Hey, I've been trying to resolve this same dcom issue myself, and I followed the steps you listed @FreeBooter, but when I try to do the last step, I firstly when clicking "edit" get a message saying

    Unknown Event ID 49 [IMG]

    And then when I do enter the menu after clicking "ok" on that dialog box, the add button is greyed out.

    I'm 100% certain I followed all the steps correctly. I triple-checked it. But no dice...

    Hi, suggest you try Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) - gives a great quick analysis (SSDs too).

    Please post the results.

    Event ID 153:
    This event may be an indication that the specified drive may be failing soon. This is especially true if the event is recorded regularly. The first step is to run the maintenance utilities related to hard drives, starting with CHKDSK and the utilities available from the manufacturer for that specific brand.
