Unnamed folder icons on desktop after 3/14/23 patches.

After the most recent round of patches and a reboot, something has started placing 2 unnamed folder icons on my desktop. The folders do not display in my desktop folder in File Explorer, yes, I'm able to see hidden and protected system files. The only options when the icons are right clicked are Cut, Create shortcut, and Delete. If I cut the icons and paste them somewhere, I get an error, 0x80004001: Not implemented. If I try to create a shortcut, nothing happens. If I delete, the icons simply recreate themselves shortly afterwards.

    :)

Deleted icons stay on desktop (not in desktop folder)

I can only suggest that you
1 Add a list of steps you have already taken.
2 Add a comment about restarting the computer. Do the deleted icons disappear then?
2 Add a comment explaining if any Desktop items do delete correctly and whether or not there are any significant differences between those that do delete correctly and those that don't.
3 Add a list of any OS tweaks you have done & any third-party OS-related utilities you have run.

I assume you have already reinstalled your display driver.
I don't see a Repair install as being relevant. Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials

Weird desktop icon behaviour on Steam

Yes, they are; however, when I right click on the "blue sphere" icon to change it and browse to the corresponding folder inside the Steam folder, it lets me go through all the steps, but the blue sphere remains. *Confused Unnamed folder icons on desktop after 3/14/23 patches.

    Remove Linux Desktop Icons

I am not sure whether this will work (Ubuntu does not have icons like that on the desktop by default), but I suggest opening the trash bin and sweeping the icons into the window showing the trash bin.
