  1. Unplugged Desktop Power in between Windows Update Processes - problem?

    Hi,

I selected "Update and Shut Down", then went out for some groceries during a thunderstorm. As I usually do during a thunderstorm I unplugged the power cord from my surge protector.

When I came home and started up the PC, I got a bios error page saying that my system wasn't shut down correctly. Upon entering bios, exiting and booting I got the Windows Installing Update page as normal.

Everything appears to be working normally, and I used "sfc /scannow" in the Command Prompt which returned a message of "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations".

Am I likely to have lost any data during this process or otherwise damaged my Windows install?

Thanks so much for your opinions.

  2. No applications open after an update today

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your response.

We appreciate the time and effort that you have invested in to fix the issue.

I would suggest that you wait for a couple of hours more, if you are still stuck in the same screen I would suggest that you terminate the process by follow the steps below:

    • Unplug the charger and remove the battery of your laptop, if using a desktop remove the power cord.
    • Press and hold the Power button for 30sec
    • Plug the charger/power cord and restart system

Once the computer restarts, perform the steps mentioned in the previous post and check.

    Hope this helps.

  3. when the power cord on my lenovo yoga 500 is unplugged the screen just blinks/goes black, any ideas?

    Hello Rachey,

The issue that you’ve encountered regarding the behavior of your Windows 10 computer may be caused by some configuration or the device drivers are not yet updated. To sort out your concern, we’d like to know the following information:

    • What are the troubleshooting steps you've done so far?
    • Were there any changes that happened prior to the issue?
    • Have you verified if the battery has enough charge when you unplugged the power cable on your device?

On the other hand, we suggest that you update the drivers on your PC to check if the issue is not related to the drivers on your device. To do this, you may follow the steps provided in this article on how to
update drivers in Windows 10. Once you’re on the page, you may
proceed with the steps and complete the process. After completing the steps, you may check if the issue persists.

We’re looking forward to your response.
