unplugged internal drive still appears in Disk Management

Summary of problem:I unplugged an internal drive while my PC was turned off, but it still appears in Disk Management and Windows Explorer. The drive only contains one partition and is currently assigned to G: drive. If I click on the drive in Windows Explorer it tells me:G:\ is not accessible.A device which does not exist was specified.Question:How do I remove it from appearing in Disk Management and Windows Explorer. When I right click on the drive in Disk Management it gives me the option to Delete Volume.... Is this the correct option to select?

    :)

  2. Disk Management

    Hi Keith,

Thanks for providing the detail that was requested previously. Since the disk management screen that you saw is showing greyed out options, we suggest that you follow the steps below to change the partition type of your internal drive:

    • Open Disk Management then right click the partition on the disk you want to covert and select Delete Volume.
    • Once you complete the process you will see the whole disk shown as two separate unallocated spaces. Right-click the disk and select Convert to GPT disk.

After the conversion, you will be able to use the whole disk and then you can create new separate partitions.

We look forward to your response to our queries.

  3. Internal Hard Drive Appearing and Disappearing

    Hello,

I have recently faced a problem with my windows 8 version where my internal hard drive is disappearing and only appears when I shut down or restart the computer. When it disappears it is not even shown in the device manager and disk management options where
only my local disk C is being shown. This problem arises when I open my internal hard drive to access some files, in the mean while the file opens the disk appears and there is no clue of where it goes.

Kindly look over and get back soon since this issue is not allowing me to operate my data on the disk drive.

Bootable USB drive appearing in Disk Management with unusual symbol

I have a bootable USB drive plugged into my PC and although it shows up in Disk Management, it doesn't show up in My Computer. Why does it have a weird symbol? It's the second drive in the list in Disk Management. Disk Management won't let me assign a drive letter, saying the list has to be refreshed, even though I just refreshed it.
