Windows 10: Unreadable Windows Product Key

I have had my computer for almost 2 years, it has a Windows Product key which you need to enter to activate Windows. There's thie really annoying message in my screen telling me to Activate Windows that I can't get rid of without entering the product key.

Here's the issue. While I was scratching the product key off, I didn't just scratch the thin layer protecting the key, but the last 5 digits of the key off too. I just want a new product key, and I have been trying to reach Microsoft to get a new one, but please don't send me back to iBUYPOWER where I bought the computer, I have already talked with them and they have said that they can't get me the product key, or a new one, only Microsoft is able to.

I would call technical support, but when I use the "Get Help" app, it can't find my problem, I choose to get a call back, and never receive one. Lastly, I tried calling the support phone number but in every situation I get an automated voice telling me to go to my get help app... Any help?

Unreadable product key

I need to reload Win7 on an unbootable laptop. The 25 character product key is unreadable on the label on the bottom. What options do I have?

Convert a Windows 8pro product key to a Windows 10pro produkt key

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

I suggest you to Uninstall the license using the following steps.

• Press Windows key + X
• Click Command Prompt (Admin)
• At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs -upk
• Press Enter, this will uninstall the product key from the computer.

Further on, install Windows 8.1 activate the copy with the product key on the new machine. Then again upgrade the same to Windows 10 using Window Update or Media Creation Tool.
