Windows 10: Unrecognized USB Device Code 43 with Saitek X45 Stick [Windows 7]

Hello,I have a USB Saitek X45 Stick and Throttle game controller that I can't get recognized on my PC. The controller works on a different computer. The PC, controller and desired game are from early 2000s.I have the original drivers and software, along with the newest drivers from the Saitek site. The default Windows drivers seem to be the "best" according to any attempt to update the drivers. The OEM driver installation doesn't complete because the controller isn't recognized/unknown and is stopped.I've tried the Windows USB Troubleshooter, as well as disabling the USB shut down setting

Apologies, I thought you had the disk and you went to the website to get an up to date driver. Drivers generally are stored in the Windows directory > System 32 > Driver Store. But it's not advisable to go there and make any changes as major errors can
result. You probably won't be able to find the driver in question anyway, as the file names are inconsistent with the hardware type.

Did you go into Device Manager and manage to locate your controller? Normally, an update or roll back of the driver would be sufficient. Or else, uninstall the present driver from that location, reboot computer, and hopefully Windows will install a generic
driver for your controller from the Driver Store. However, I'm surprised that downloading a driver from Saitek, has proved fruitless. BTW, I thought the X45 was a stick not a game pad.

You could go into Device Manager and find your Saitek X45 there. Click on Properties, then the Driver tab and select Roll back Driver. You should get back to your original driver.

If it still doesn't work properly, then load your Saitek disk and either reinstall the software (you will need to uninstall the software first rather than just overwriting it), or preferably install only the driver.

 

No calibration option in joy.cpl for Saitek X45 HOTAS

For X45 there were 2 major board revisions

The later board auto calibrated when the PC booted

The original board did manual calibration.

When you are looking for drivers, if you have an older manual calibration stick

You are going to need to use the older windows 7 64 bit drivers

Probably the ones dated may 2007 or older.

(sorry, the official links went away many many moons ago but simracing is legit, been around forever)

It lets you do what windows 10 will not, which is adjust your axis throw points, center and dead zones

and save that info to reload when ever you need to.

Windows 10 does not retain it in between boots.

Can even fine tune the slop on the center that the stick gets as it ages and its plastic centering cone gets wobbly (Id kill for a CNC machine aluminum cone with a polished bore)

Most newer sticks even the later X45 stored that info onboard in a little eeprom

I use an X45 in windows 10 AND i use the SST programming software

For that you need this version specifically, other versions do not work correclty

During install ignore the fast that it says for the cyborg, it works for the X45 too, and perfectly as well as most other saitek legacy controllers that used the SST software to program.

ALSO NOTE:

When you want to open up the X45 control panel, do not do so from device manager, it will most likely open the stock win10 joy.cpl

Saitek calls theirs via a DLL, click the control panel icon in the SST software's system try icon, and you will get the SAITEK joystick control panel with the SAITEK options.
