Windows 10: "Unspecified" in Device Manager

    "Unspecified" in Device Manager


    Further to my complaint about personalising external usb drives, what is all this "Unspecified" with an impersonal icon in the Device Manager? The system seems to be saying that whilst it uses or reads these disks, it doesn't recognise them as entities.

    How can I get Windows 10 to recognize an Unspecified Device as a Printer?

    I have installed a DYMO printer, but it is not listed as a printer but only as an Unspecified Device. How can I get Windows 10 to recognize an Unspecified Device as a Printer? All printer troubleshooting steps require it to be listed as a Printer, and
    all Help solutions assume that it can be recognized as a printer.

    USB PRINTER As Unspecified device,

    Same problem here and also with an Epson deskjet connect via USB. What is funny is that I never noticed this because the wifi version the printer was showing up! The printer works perfectly, on device manager it is listed as a printer, on programs it appears
    as a print device but on the Win10 printers menu is not listed at all and via control panel it is unspecified.

    Remove unspecified device


    How can I remove an unspecified device in printers and devices. The unspecified device was a result of a failed attempt to add a printer. It won't allow me to uninstall it, I did remove an error in the device manager but that didn't do anything.
    Right clicking has no effect.
