Page 1-23 in the manual;

1. (2) Supports two (2) modules inserted into either the red slots or the black slots as onepair of Dual-channel memory con guration. We suggest that you install the modulesinto slots A2 and B2 for better compatibility.

Using two CPU's and which version? You can try this not sure if it will work but worth a try. another issues with Dell's it is important when installing memory is to do it in pairs in the right slots not sure if your's has white and black slots but you could
check online for the order to install

• install back old memory (use just two sticks) and let the bios recognise it
• reboot and turn off pc
• install new memory (24GB)
• after turning on you will see the message "memory size changed"
• strike F1 to continue and just forget about BIOS existence, because as soon as you go there, the chances are your memory will be decreased

Your computer requires DIMMs within a channel to be populated starting with the DIMMs farthest from the processor first. This
means the DIMM slots 1, 2 and 3 must be populated before DIMM slots 4, 5 and 6. In addition, when populating a Quad-rank DIMM
with a Single- or Dual-rank DIMM in the same channel, the Quad-rank DIMM must be populated farthest from the CPU
