  1. Unsure if all errors fixed by chkdsk

I had a notification that there was a disk error, so I looked at the Event Viewer, and found a number of Error entries under System, many reading like this:

"A corruption was discovered in the file system structure on volume M:.

The Master File Table MFT contains a corrupted file record. The file reference number is 0x1000000000000. The name of the file is "<unable to determine file name>"."

I ran "chkdsk m: /f /r", and it reported finding a number of errors and fixing them. I ran it again to confirm, and this time it found no errors.

However, when I check the Event Viewer, I can still see those original errors. Does their presence mean there are still errors on the drive? Does chkdsk remove the events for the corresponding drive when it repairs them?

    Thanks,

    Mayhew

    :)

Unsure if all errors fixed by chkdsk

    Hi Mayhew

If you ran ChkDsk twice, and errors were found and fixed first time, the no errors were found on the second run, your disk errors have been fixed, regardless of what is reported in Event Viewer
