unusal options during manual install of 1809 over 1803

I upgraded my laptop from 1803 to 1809 yesterday with a downloaded UUPDump copy of the most recent version(17763.349) from a bootable thumb drive(Rufus) and it installed fine after the MS update to do this failed. Last night during my freezone I started to do so on my PC which has the latest fully updated version of 1803, including the April 2019 updates. I went to bed as the updates were taking a long time. This morning I went to finish the install and found that after getting all the updates it apparently went to the install page skipping the what to keep options page. The "back button did not work so I clicked on the "change what to keep" option and when the options for what to keep came up they were slightly different. The 1st option: "You will be able to manage your Windows settings". While everything is backed up I prefer to keep all apps and files. The second option: "Your settings and apps will be deleted, but your files will be kept". The third option: "Everything will be deleted, including files, apps, and settings". The machine will not let me take a screenshot for some reason to post. System health, SFC /scannow, dism/ checkhealth, chkdsk all were good before starting.

    :)

  2. Update Windows 10 to 1809 manually

It's been a while after Microsoft released an update to fix issues in the initial Windows 10 1809 update. But the page where we can download the updates as standalone packages still has a hole instead of download link to the 1809.17763.1 version package:

Windows 10 Update Assistant page is useless as well, since it offers to download April 2018 Update, lol.

So, I can't update my 1803.17134.376 to 1809 even after more than a month since it's initially was released.

(Of course, "drastically improved" Windows Update doesn't suggest the 1809 update, too. Actually, it has been never working on this Win 10 copy, so I used to download all the updates manually via the first link in this post.)

Has anybody figured out a way of how to manually update from 1803 to 1809?

Without hardcore stuff, please, like making bootable media which potentially would have a great chance of destroying the currently installed Win 10 copy unusal options during manual install of 1809 over 1803 :)

UPDATE: I was completely confused by that "Microsoft recommends" wording near the 1809 update on that page and some top articles in Google saying that it was released and ready for production with that quick patch. So, this question is from this confusion.

Thanks to comments below and @music2myear answer, it's clear now that 1809 is still not released. So, there is no point in update attempts (at least for me) at the moment.

  3. Update Windows 10 to 1809 manually

The thing is Microsoft has NOT re-released 1809 yet. So long as you are sticking to the full release versions you do not yet have the option to install 1809.

There has been little in the way of news regarding when the OS will be ready, but I'm hoping and assuming Microsoft is putting this time to good use and identifying and fixing many bugs.

The only way to get builds later than 1803 at this time (2018/11/05) is to use the various Insider Preview options.

How to rollback from 1809 to 1803.

    Hi Wickiwiz,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

To get clarity of this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, kindly reply with the answers to the questions below.

    1. What is the make and model of your system?
    2. When was the system upgraded to1809?
You would be able to revert back to previous windows within the first ten days after the upgrade installed, you can Downgrade Windows 10 1809 to 1803 using the recovery options. However, if you performed clean installation
you would not be able to rollback to earlier build version of windows 10.

Follow the below steps, if you have upgrade your Windows 10 within 10 days.

    1. Open Windows Settings using
      Windows + I keyboard.
    2. Click on Update & Security then
      Recovery on the left.
    3. Now click on Get started under ‘Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.
    4. This will prompt why you are going back to the previous build, With Options
    • My apps or devices don’t work on this build
    • Earlier builds seemed easier to use
    • Earlier builds seemed faster
    • Earlier builds seemed more reliable
    • For another reason
    5. Select any preferred answer or Select for another Reason (also there is option to tell Microsoft more about your reasons if you wish) and click
    Next to continue.

    6. When you click on next Windows 10 will prompt you the chance to check for updates in case that a new update is available to fix the current issue you’re having.

    7. If you’ve decided to roll back, click
No, thanks to continuing the rollback processed.

    8. On Next Screen Read What you need to know carefully.

    9. This will instruct you after going back you need to
    reinstall some apps, programs.

    10. Also, lose any changes you have made after upgrade to windows 10 October 2018 update.

    11. After reading this carefully click next to proceed one more step to Uninstall Windows 10 version 1809.

    12. Now Windows 10 will remind you that you need to know the password of the user account in the previously installed operating system ( windows 10 1803).

    13. Click Go back to earlier build to begin the windows 1809 rollback process.

    14. And the setup will take over and roll back your PC to the previous version of Windows 10 version 1809.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

    Regards,
