    Unusual file named .62030.jpg.3bqiFX

I was making a backup of my website files to Windows 7 with Cygwin (from a LAMP server, regular PHP script) and in the process something has created a file like this:

    .62030.jpg.3bqiFX

In the folder where it appeared, there is a nother original file named 62030.jpg, which is an image file. So something has added that dot at the beginning and the ".3bqiFX" at the end. The file is 0 bytes and it belongs to the following Group or user:

    S-1-5-21-3658720670-2097995755-1032747883-1001

When I try to paste it to disk C (from disk D), make a copy of it, I get the following results:

File Access Denied - You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy this file.
I am now on Windows 10 Pro (I upgraded today) and when I click Continue with that shield icon (this looks like I am pressing it as an administrator of the system or something like that, I get that:

You need permission form S-1-5-21-3658720670-2097995755-1032747883-1001 to make changes to this file.

I've been using Windows for like 15 years and I've never seen anything like that. Is there any way to figure out what this is and where it may be coming from? I will add that this is an important situation as this is a backup and I can lose a year and a half of all day / all week work. For this reason I am asking, and I would like to know what this is that I am dealing with (normally I would just delete it in some way, I guess).

    Thanks.

    :)

Windows 10 allows two files with same name

I work with a lot of .jpg images and have discovered that since upgrading to Win 10, I am allowed to save an image (or other file) using a name already designated to a pre-existing image or file.

Sometimes they will be in the same folder - side by side, such as two .jpg images named "11"

Sometimes the images will be in different folders

Most of the time, attempting to save under an existing name will prompt me so I can continue (replacing the original) or select a different name. Sometimes it will just save my new file with the same name, not prompting me at all. When I attempt to 'Save
as' a new .jpg over an existing .jpg, I receive a prompt advising me this filename already exists, and when I cancel, the original .jpg file is deleted.

Is this considered normal for Windows 10 ?

This new file management system is not reliable.

List pictures from multiple location in same window?

One last question, if there are multiple versions of a file are they listed one after the other in the text file, or could one of the same image be further down the list after other image names?

For example could copie of image 1 be listed as follows in the text file:

    somepath/1.jpg

    somepath/1.jpg

    somepath/2.jpg

    somepath/2.jpg

    somepath/2.jpg

    somepath/3.jpg

    somepath/3.jpg

    somepath/1.jpg

    somepath/2.jpg

    somepath/2.jpg

I will try that. As of right now I am not able to upload the file to the Internet as I dont have the permissions to access the file. I guess I can change that in some way in Properties and some other options within that. Before that I would like to have the best possible knowledge of what this issue can be.

I'm doing quite a guess but since you used cygwin it can be a tmp file created while downloading the original
image, the dot simply means it is a "hidden file" probably a "temporary hidden file".

This is a possibility, thanks. It is not a hidden file (in any way), it is a "regularly" visible file.

If changing the permissions proves difficult, you can boot from a repair drive then extract that file.

It is a hidden file in linux (hence in cygwin), since you browse it in windows it is not recognized as hidden.

When I search for "3bqifx" in google.com there is no info on that on any of the sites. I went over the results that show up and this is not related to the issue that I've got. It may be different today, since I have started adding some topics here and there, but this is all my threads, and one individual situation on the entire Net. This is an aspect of it too.

Anyway, sounds like just delete it and dont worry about it too much?

If you recognize image 62030.jpg as one of your image or an image expected to be generated by you web app/server, 3bqifx is prob a random suffix added while downloading the file.

    hope this help.
