    Unwanted, enforced windows updates.

I am so raging angry at unwanted enforced windows updates.
No matter how many times I turn them off on my spare laptop, which I use *only* to monitor my IP cameras, if I have to turn off the laptop or get a power cut, as soon as it restarts, the update starts again. The issue is that when it does so, my laptop is f*cked, I have to format the drive and reinstall windows again.

I am of the opinion that if windows forces people to update when updates are neither wanted, nor required and when every update breaks what was working perfectly well before, then Microsoft needs to either give people a way of opting out at our own risk, or should be financially liable to reinstate what their stupid updates have broken.

What sort of crazy world am I living in when I purchase something, but have no say over what is done remotely. It's like buying a new car and 3 years down the line, get *forced* to have special fuel put in the tank by force, which stops the engine working, or having the manufacturers sneak out at night while the car is parked and put new updated tyres on it, which all have leaks, rendering the vehicle useless.

    Sort yourself out Microsoft.

    :)

    disable driver signature enforcement

    Hi Barbara,

To resolve this issue, let's use the command prompt to disable driver signature enforcement permanently on your computer. To disable, follow the steps below:

    • Click the Start button.
    • On the search bar, type Command Prompt and then right-click
      Command Prompt
      in the results.
    • Select Run as Administrator, and then select Yes.
    • On the command prompt, enter bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on and press
      Enter.
    • Restart your computer.

Note: Doing this step will disable driver signature enforcement permanently and will make your computer vulnerable to driver issues.

Keep us updated with the results.

    Unwanted, enforced windows updates.

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Unwanted, enforced windows updates. :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
