Unwanted touch-pad and keyboard re-sizing of active window

This is driving me crazy. I have gone through the synaptic touch pad settings several times and and I still have to use cat paw touches on the keyboard and touch pad to keep the window from randomly zooming. Also the search window keeps popping up randomly and I have to tap the touch pad to remove it. I am sure this must have been answered before or described in setup tutorials, but I am having too much trouble just searching for it.

    Please help.

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Microsoft keyboard functions?

Up to now... I have been using a computer with keyboard/touch-pad that have finger-controls and left/right. Now I have a computer with just a touch-pad... And it's driving me crazy!

Is there documentation on how a Microsoft keyboard/touch-bad functions?

One example of frustration is... I'll be clicking on the right-lower portion of the key-pad... Moving the pointer around... And the FONT SIZE CHANGES.

    Help?

    Windows 10 desktop icons resizing

What kind of computer do you have? The issue is related to the design of the touchpad and the new option to adjust icon size using the touch pad included in Windows 10.

    -----------------------------------------------

    Response to trbogt's original post:

It is not an issue with the computer. This isn't a new computer....I just updated to Windows 10. I do not have touchscreen capabilities.....only a touch pad. It has to do with the design of my touch pad (Sony Vaio S Series) and it cannot be fixed by decreasing
the touch pad sensitivity. Not only does the size of the icons change, the arrangement of the icons on the desktop changes when they are enlarged too much.

This re-arrangement of the icons on the desktop is NOT related to the issue that others were experiencing with their icons being rearranged every time they logged in (fix is to disable "Auto Arrange Icons").

Since I am not the only person to experience this issue with the touch pad sensitivity and this issue is isolated to the Windows 10 update, it is up to Microsoft's discretion to provide a fix....preferably an option to lock the icon size on the desktop so
that the size cannot be inadvertently changed by touching the touch pad.

    Try this:
Control Panel/Mouse/Device Settings/Settings/Pinch Zoom/Uncheck the box that says "Enable Pinch Zoom"/Apply/OK.

Took me a little bit to find it on my work computer but the Pinch Zoom setting is buried in there. It's under the Device Settings tab where I had 4 devices listed. On mine I selected the 3rd device and clicked Settings button.

Thanks. That is one of the first things I tried. It worked for awhile and I went back and it was checked again, so I unchecked it again, applied and clicked OK. So I looked again to be sure it was still unchecked, but it was checked again. It seems something is changing this setting on me. I will keep my eye on it now and see if it changes back again.

Any ideas on the search window popping up all the time?

No idea on the search window.

To try to fix the pinch zoom setting, make sure it is unchecked then do a restart from the power icon instead of shutdown. That should clear the file that fast startup creates when you shutdown which is where the option may be coming back from.

NavyLCDR, I tried unchecking them again, doing an apply and okay, then restarted from the power icon and they still returned to the default setting.

I guess submit feedback to Microsoft. Sounds like a bug.

I'll have to look when I get home. Try just typing feedback in the Windows search bar.

Yep. Just type Feedback in search - it's an app.
