When I swipe from the left edge of my HP Spectre touchscreen, an unwanted widgets panel appears. This is especially annoying as a left-handed user while writing by hand. I've tried disabling widgets in Taskbar settings, but the swipe gesture still triggers it. How do I permanently disable the left swipe for articles and widgets?

I'm left handed and when writing with the slim pen, I continuously open the widgets causing me to be unable to write. It appears there isn't a way to disable this (only disable the widgets not the swipe). This issue makes the device almost unusable for the purpose I purchased if for (to take notes as an electronic replacement to a notebook). How can this be disabled and not reintroduced through the continuous Windows updates.

- Option 1: Disable the screen edge swipe in the Local Group Policy Editor. This option will disable both the left and right swipe gestures for all users on your device. To do this, you need to have Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, or Education edition.

- Open the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc).

- Navigate to the policy location: Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Edge UI​

- In the right pane of Edge UI in the Local Group Policy Editor, Disable Screen Edge Swipe

- Option 2: Referring to the figure below modify the Registry Editor by visiting: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\default\LockDown\AllowEdgeSwipe , change the value to 0. This may disable the Edge on Windows device swipe gestures on Windows devices. Edge swipe gestures are typically used for actions such as opening the Charms bar or accessing application commands.

Had the same problem with my Surface 3.
