  1. Unzipping files sometimes very slow in Network

I have a network with 2 Win 10 computers and an XP. Many times I will go to a network HD and unzip a file by first double clicking on it and then selecting the files and going back to the original folder and hit Paste.

I always see a progress window pop up showing the progress of the unzipping. Most of the time it works fine, but about 20% of the time it stalls on 1 file and I have to redo it. Today it happened and I had to leave the computer I was surprised when I came back that it did complete, just extremely slow. Most the time I just close the window and redo the unzip. This has happened for years. Any suggestions how to fix this?

    :)

    • To unzip the entire folder, right-click (or press and hold) it, select
      Extract All,
      then follow the instructions.

  3. unzip files in windows 10

I see multiple questions about unzipping files in windows 10 with the same exact response about opening the folder via 'windows icon +E' which I can use to open a folder but I get no option for unzipping other than I need to download Winzip. Is this functionality
not included in windows 10 as it has been previously? Please don't just post the same copy and paste response that didn't work for quite a few people based on comments from your site.
The steps below DO NOT WORK for windows 10. I've been using previous versions of windows for years and while this used to work it doesn't in your new version.

    • Locate the zipped folder that you want to unzip (extract) files or folders from.
    • Do one of the following:
      • To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location.
      • To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

  4. Unzipping files sometimes very slow in Network

    Unzip downloaded file

    Hi Gina,

There is a possibility that some of your zipped files got corrupted during the download process. This is why you're having challenges trying to unzip those files.

For possible solution, we suggest that you try to re-download those files and check if you will still experience the same issue. If yes, then please run
SFC scan and DISM scan. These tools
will help you repair the corrupted files and will also
enhance the performance of the system. You may refer to the links below to see the steps on how you to run the scanners:

Please update us with the results.
