    Same here.. heck I might just use the upgrade with my Win8.1 OS and then get a copy from NewEgg or Amazon.

    Timing is an interesting point after 28 July 2016 though - if I stayed as an Insider for a year but wanted to stop, I would presumably no longer have the option to use my Windows 8.x licence to get Windows 10.

    If you opt out after the 29th your Windows 7 license will still be in tact. If not them I will drop out long before the 29Th,??

    What?? I just plan on uninstalling the preview .. use Win8.1 and upgrade it to the final release of WIn10. What you want to do is up to you not me or anyone else here.

    Simple for me.. Remove Win10 Preview.. Take my Win8.1 instillation and upgrade to Win10. And later on purchase a copy of Win10 from Amazon or NewEgg.

    Sorry for the confusion.. upgrade and then purchase a copy of WIn10 from NewEgg or Amazon. That way I can use it the way I want to on any PC of my choosing.

    Well, you should upgrade your Windows 8.x license before the year is up, just like everyone else.

    Does that mean, that we will NOT be able to do a clean install of our free Windows 10? As I read it, there has to be a Windows 7/8.1 installation (activated, of course), and then do the upgrade to windows 10.*Redface

    I want windows 10 _clean installed_ as upgrades never are as clean as a "clean install" (hence the name, I guess)

    Well yes, but (assuming the Insider programme is still running by then), it means Insiders are committing to being stuck as Insiders after that point, with no easy way back if they wanted to leave or if the programme was stopped.

    I guess you could give 8.1 for 10, buy 10, uninstall (revert back), and still use your orig 8.1. Am I *Confused enough!?

    I don't plan on using 8.1 after 10's RTM.. I would just want a copy that I can do anything with.. like install on a new PC without any issues.
