Windows 10: Update 10586 not installing on 10 Pro 64 bit

I'm on a computer that I don't use that much and I noticed that Windows Update has the 10586 update queued up, but it doesn't actually install when I restart the computer. I get the options of update and restart, but it doesn't actually do it. Other updates (defender) download, but not this one. There aren't any errors either, it just doesn't update. I tried using the media creation tool to upgrade my copy of ten to the most current version, but the install failed. My Windows 10 Pro is activated and everything is good on that front. I've tried running sfc /scannow (no errors detected) and Windows Update Troubleshooter (no errors detected as well) and I'm wondering if anyone on here has any ideas.

Directx recognizes different BIOS version than actual installed BIOS version

DirectX finally recognizes the correct BIOS version after the Windows Update. Updating from Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Build 10240) to Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Build 10586) fixed the issue.

Hello, I guess when you tried to upgrade to build 10586 (which came out last November (!)) you had logged in to Windows, inserted (e.g.) a DVD with 10586 on it, and tried to upgrade.

Could you advise the exact error message please?

Note that if you are running a 64 bit OS, the installation medium needs to also be for a 64 bit version.

Also please post a screenshot of running diskmgmt.msc from a command prompt.

I didn't use a DVD, I used Media Creation Tool in an attempt to update Windows 10. This also means that it automatically chose the right version for the OS. As for the error message that happened when I tried to upgrade in this fashion, it just said something like "There was an error with the install" Here's the diskmgmt screen.

Try it this way:

Use the Tech Bench link instead to download YOUR version of Windows 10.

scroll down to Select Edition > click the pointer at the right and select your edition of Windows 10 > click Confirm.
click the pointer and select Language > make sure you pick the same language the computer is now running > click Confirm
select the bit version, 32 or 64-bit. Make sure you select the same bit version as the computer is now running.
at the bottom, click the pointer next to Save > click Save As > navigate to a folder of your choice > click the chosen folder > click Save
The iso will start downloading to your chosen folder.
When it is done, go to that folder > open the folder > right click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe
Installation will begin.
It will allow you to keep you files, settings and apps.
