Windows 10: update 1903 failure, updates past 1803 always fail.

i recently ran SetupDiag and opened the results. I believe i have found the issue.

I highlighted the issue in bold.


when i went from windows 7 to windows 10 i had an AMD processor.

I upgraded to an INTEL processor.


it seems that windows never checks the actual specs and when it restarts the pc to do the final OS update it fails and immediately rolls back the changes. one would think Microsoft would find this issue easily and fix it, or at the minimum post an understandable log not a vague error code when the update fails. i have had this issue for over a year and all this could have been avoided if i had known why.


any help fixing this would be welcome.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Win 10 1803 to 1903 update

My Desktop computer running Win 10 updated from version 1803 to 1903 a while back, but my Desktop running Win 10 version 1803

I'm assuming the update 1803 to 1903 has now resumed after the earlier problems caused a suspension?

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Every attempt (circa 8 now) fails at same point after restart on 60% update
popup window with failed to update system files
Full ISO version update gave more info in dialog after restart from rollback;
0xC1900101 - 0x30018
The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an errooor during SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation

Tried all steps from link:
help link
Did chkdsk /f C:

did dsim check to restore health

did troubleshooting update from troubleshooting setting section in win10

tried media tool download (did not offer in place upgrade so did not finish)

Tried Iso update by downloading windows iso for 1903.

Updates all drivers I could.

No ! in any part of Device Manager list.

any ideas as after so many attempts I am stumped. Too many error messages in the attached logs for me to narrow down without knowledge to read them.
