  1. Update 20h2 installing wrong keyboard driver

    Hello everyone,

I've a serious problem with the new update 20H2 for Win10: it forces me to install a new driver, "Asus NumPad", which completely disables my laptop's built-in keyboard.
That driver is not meant for my computer, and once installed it doesn't matter if I delete it and I reinstall the old drivers: the keyboard remains dead apart from backlight.
I'm a Windows-user since Win95, I've been repairing computers from 10 years, but still I did not find a way to fix this problem.
I had to restore the previous Windows' version to use again my keyboard.

The point is that Windows Update FORCES me to install THAT update again, and all I can do is to delay the update for a month: then I will have to restore again the previous version, IF Windows will allow me to do that again. ...and do that again forever?

It happened also 1 years ago, when I had to completely format my computer in order to fix this problem, because after the installation of Asus NumPad my laptop started to permanently disable, after each reboot, the USB-keyboards I was connecting so I had to use the On-Screen Keyboard.

Apart from disabling Windows Update, what should I do?

    [I've an ASUS ROG GL502VM]

    Thanks in advance!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 keeps installing wrong keyboard driver.

    Hello Tony,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I request you to try uninstalling and reinstalling the Keyboard Drivers.

Step 1: Uninstall the Keyboard Drivers

    • Press “Windows Logo” + “X” keys on the keyboard.
    • Click on “Device Manager” from that list.
    • Search for the Keyboard from the device list, right click on it and then select “Uninstall”. On the un-installation window, if you have an option: “Delete the driver software for this device” you may select that and then remove
the corrupted drivers from the computer.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete it and then restart the computer if prompted.

After the restart, please go ahead with the next steps to install the latest drivers and check if that resolves the issue.

Update Driver Software from the Manufacturer’s website:

Step 2: Go to the Computer manufacturer’s website and search for the latest Windows 10 drivers available for the Keyboard and then install it by following the instructions given in the website.

If you still have the issue, install the drivers in compatibility mode.

Download the drivers from manufacture's website for Windows 10, if there no drivers available for Windows 10, download the latest driver from the manufacturer’s website and
try installing it in compatibility mode.
Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows.

Follow these steps to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    • Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website.
    • Right-click on the driver setup file and click on
      ‘properties’
      .
    • Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box
‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select the operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation.
    • Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

  3. Keyboard input lag (Logitech K270 wireless keyboard, Windows 10 20H2)

Hi there. I've got yet another Windows 10 problem. lol

This time it's my keyboard. I'm using a Logitech K270 wireless keyboard, on Windows 10 Pro 20H2. I have been experiencing keyboard input lag off and on for a couple months now, and I've searched for possible solutions, but none so far have worked. I was hoping you guys could suggest some fixes.

Here's what I've tried, based on the suggestions I've found on the web:
    • Updating the keyboard/dongle's drivers (there are no drivers on Logitechs's site, oddly) and firmware. Nope.
    • Swapping USB ports. Nada.
    • Unplugging any extraneous USB devices. Zilch.
    • Checking the batteries. No joy.

As I was typing this it was lagging here and there. It's a bit disconcerting. Anyway... I don't think I missed anything, but if you need more information or diagnostics, lemme know and I'll upload 'em.
