Windows 10: Update and Cortana

Hi. Has this happened to anyone else?
I had set up Cortana for use in the UK, downloaded the language and speech components.
Everything was working fine and then the latest update restarted my computer and Cortana needed set up again.
I am in the process of downloading the components again.

"Stopcode -- WHEA uncorrectabel Error"

I no longer have this problem. However, when I do the update it renders my graphics card useless so now I boot from my floppy drive and don't update at all.

 

1709 Bluescreens & video problems

I was just letting the process work itself out as reinstall/recovery didn't help and eventually it would let me sign in. A few days ago while I was typing away, my screen had a mind of its' own and just went extra wide screen and removed my dual screen
ability. Now my videos don't play in FB and can't get out of this widescreen. I've again tried Recovery to no avail. There have been several updates since the blue screen error. I went out and looked at my devices and now it must has Basic Display Driver instead
of the Dell driver that was there before. It no longer recognizes it. I have done recovery and it worked for a few minutes but again reverts back to this Basic Driver. How can it do this? I also no longer have a Sleep function on my shutdown menu, just Restart
or Shut Down. I have done Reset already and had to reinstall several of my apps. This continues to get worse. Everything else is working fine. I have no other screen issues.

 

I'm really starting to hate Windows 10.
Ok, so after setting up Cortana again, now the search function doesn't work, I just get a big empty grey box.





And things are slow too.
Its driving me nuts. Its not as if I even did anything! The update happened by itself and now I have issues.
I don't have the time or energy for this cr*p.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

 

Hi, basics:
a. Enable System restore and schedule a task to create e.g. a daily restore point.
b. Use 3rd party disk imaging regularly so you can quickly restore your PC to a previously state. Also creates a full backup.

I have UK English set up: Have received KB3135173 - no issues.

Note that Search in Settings is not related to Cortana but to Windows search.
That is, if Search is off or some area in Users is not indexed, Search in Settings does not work.

Speed is another matter. Depends on e.g.
- is your CPU or disk busy with sthg
- do you have enough RAM

Check your task manager.

Some strange conflict or other driver/hardware issue.
