Windows 10: Update and security settings

(0x80070424) I have been getting this error for a couple of months now - I have tried everything that M/soft help asked of me. I have tried everything shown on You tube (I know - desperate!).

There are no files in my software distribution / download folder

I have downloaded Windows Defender Antivirus for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 from the m/soft site. When I click to execute nothing happens.

I have been to local services and windows update shows as running, I have stopped and restarted it, to no avail.


The second problem - maybe allied to this, is although I am signed on as the Admin I cannot get into the security settings. It just shows the heading and then nothing. I click on "open windows security" and when I do I get "security at a glance" and a couple of lines of text - then blank!


Help with both of these problems would be much appreciated.

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

Microsoft to Roll Out Four Security Updates Next Week

So that's (4) down and 40 Billion more security updates to go before any Microsucks O/S will be even remotely secure. I'd suggest Bill get off his arse and get the first Billion security fixes out this year.
