  3. Will Windows 10 support Camera Raw files

Yes, it does, since build 10041 actually:

Enhancements to the Photos app: The updated Live Tile for the Photos app will now include your photos on OneDrive in the recent photo rotation where previously you would only see local photos. We’ve made lots of performance and reliability
improvements across the entire app. You will see added support for RAW format files, which should be up to date with new major cameras. If you find a RAW file that doesn’t show up correctly in the Photos app

You're welcome Jeff. I noticed that a lot of people were writing about this and while I was looking for some other info I found this while at "everybodies" favorite download site MajorGeeks after clicking the link to NT Compatible.

    Hi there

    Thanks for taking this forward.

I think the biggest pain so far is in the fact that Windows updates drivers if it thinks there's a newer one available to the one you have already installed. Quite a few people have found that the windows update KILLS their audio and the solution is to Roll back the driver after the windows update.

There DEFINITELY IMO should be some option to prevent specific updates from being installed --the old Windows update had this whereby you could deselect specific updates.

At least we still get the chance to ROLL BACK a driver but if this option is removed then your system could just become USELESS !!!.

    Cheers

This is also why I never "recommend" driver updaters either, like Driver Max, slimdrivers, driver booster...etc. many go by date(problem is it's usually date posted not the actual release date) instead of version number.

UPDATE: Audio issues in Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041

Those drivers, with some notable exemptions, coming straight from MS are at best just crippled (and mostly outdated) versions of drivers from MFGs. Unfortunately 10041 doesn't let you easily dismiss those updates. Not even hack from 9926 to bring back old (Control Panel) style for updates works. However I managed to stop that behavior by installing newer drivers from MFGs so those from MS don't show up any more.

    Hi there

some of the problems with VIA / REALTEK audio drivers can be fixed --go to Sound in control panel choose playback device ===>properties==>===>enhancements and disable the enhancements --then it should all work again. Set the default device of course to speakers or whatever you use normally.

    Cheers

  10. In case anyone is interested ... I'm using an ALC892 audio chip and have RealTek HD audio drivers installed. Noticed recently that Win10 automatically updated my drivers to v6.0.1.7446 -- while I am still running v6.0.1.7399 in Win8.1.

So, I did a search at the RealTek site and found no newer drivers.

Then, I did a search for station-drivers versions and found a newer version: v6.0.1.7549. I installed these in Win8.1 and they work great.

I've regularly used drivers downloaded from station-drivers and never found them to be a problem.

So, if anyone is looking for newer RealTek HD Audio drivers, suggest you check out station-drivers. They limit downloads, so grab the newest version you want, first.

What's wrong with drivers from here: Realtek I doubt anybody would have newer drivers than Realtek.

I personally only update video drivers and all others I use OEM that were adjusted for that specific piece of equipment. I do not like it that Microsoft updates drivers at all. If I'm not having problems I do not update, that could even cause more problems.

That said a colleague at work was having sound problems with 10 using his 8.1 Realtek drivers and I was suppose to help him this weekend, but on a whim, he tried Win7 drivers from OEM, and it solved his sound problem... go figure*Huh.

Once I installed v2.75, WU didn't bother me with their drivers any more.
