Windows 10: Update BIOS, Windows Activation Error

Hi AllRecently updated my bios to latest version for the gigabyte B560M DS3H AC motherboard. I brought my computer second hand, already with windows 11 pre installed. After logging back in, in settings I am told there is a windows activation error. I run the trouble shooting, and select options for change of hardware but I have had no luck. Any suggestions out there? Thanks

Windows 10 will not activate Error code 0x803F7001

Possibly there can be the problem with Microsoft activation Server, so your Windows 10 is not activated. In this scenario, you need to wait and verify if it is the issue from Microsoft’s side. But if you are getting error code 0x803f7001, you can also try these steps:

1. Open Settings app. Then go to Update and security > Activation screen > Change product.
2. Type your Windows edition product key and click Next.
3. You’ll get We couldn’t activate Windows error message.
4. Retry steps 1-3 then type your 25-characters unique product key.
5. Wait for the process to complete, Windows 10 is activated.

Should I update bios?

I would read the warranty before doing anything. If the manufacturer finds out you did something not on their approved list of steps,for example using a program they didn't list, or a bios, etc, they can treat your video card rma like you threw it against the wall , because if something goes wrong and you didn't follow their steps exactly ,it was damaged through human error and they're not likely going to be obligated to cover it warranty wise. I don't know for sure, I just advocate that you check first , and I also advocate that you verify that it's an actual update ,because very rarely do manufacturers release updates for gpu bios'. And they most certainly wont cover a GPU "update" if its a bios file written by some dude in the Ukraine, it has to be a set process, they have predetermined often.

 

Windows 10 won't activate after BIOS update with error code: 0xc004c003.

I would like to inform that, if the Activation status in Settings – Update & Security – Activation says “Connect to the Internet…” and you’re connected to the Internet, please apologize and reassure the customer that Windows should be activated after
a day or two.

Also, as the updates were offered by the manufacturer, I suggest you to contact them for better assistance on your queries.

As the product key will be injected on the motherboard and any updates to the BIOS would cause the activation issues.
